Muddy Boots - Canyonland State Park, Rising Fawn, GA

We will be doing several trails in the park.  The Waterfalls Trail is 2 miles round trip which drops quickly into the canyon depths to two waterfalls, Cherokee and Hemlock Falls.  The trail includes 600 metal steps into the canyon.  We will then continue onto Sitton’s Gulch Trail which follows Daniel Creek through open green, hemlock groves and overlooks numerous small waterfalls cascading through limestone crevices for 4 miles round trip.  The West Rim Loop trail is 5 miles round trip.  It offers several scenic viewpoints of Cloudland Canyon as well as more distant terrain.  The Overlook trail is 1 mile round trip offering impressive views of the state park’s rugged canyons and dense woodland.  This trail meanders along the rim of Cloudland Canyon.

REMINDER that a parking pass for each driver will be required in the Smoky Mountain National Park for the 9/8 hike.  A daily pass of $5.00 or annual pass of $40 may be purchased on line. 

Hiking boots and hiking sticks are recommended.

Driving directions will be provided the morning of the hike.

Bring water and a trail lunch.

If carpooling, please contribute $6.00 to driver to cover gas, etc.
