Monday, August 14, 2023 (Rain Date August 21)

Hike Description:  This hike covers a small portion of the route traveled by John Muir in 1857 as he made his way from Indiana to the Gulf of Mexico.  For much of this hike the trail is sandwiched between the Hiawassee River and some impressive rock formations.  Beautiful river views along a mostly very level trail.  There are a couple of spots presenting precarious footing, where some care must be taken.  This hike will begin at the John Muir trailhead also known as the Childer Creek Trailhead and move up river.  After a water/snack break, we will return to the trailhead.  If desired, we can stop for lunch at one of the many restaurants.
