Hike Description:  For Muddy Boots hikers looking for a challenge, the Alum Cave Trail to Peregrine Peak provides that challenge, but pays it off with spectacular views, old growth forest, a natural arch and overhanging bluffs.  The trail is used to reach Mount Le Conte, which at 6,593 feet, is the third highest peak in the park and 10.7 miles up the trail and gains 3,000 feet in elevation.  We’ll stop well short of that, at Peregrine Peak.  At 4.6 miles, the distance is typical for Muddy Boots, but the elevation gain of 1100’ will make you work for it.  The hike, like life, is not a race so we will set a moderate pace and take our time to enjoy the view and get our cardio!
