VILLAGE QUILTERS Monthly Meeting

Meetings are on the second Friday of each month 9:30am at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church on 260 Wade Road, Loudon. Meetings begin at 9:30 AM (9:00 - 9:30 is social time) and end at 12:00 PM. General business is followed by an educational program or other special event.  Non-members may purchase tickets ($10) at the meeting.

January 9th - "WonderFil Specialty Threads--Threaducation 101" with Paulina Roman
Education focused on the fundamentals and intricacies of thread. Detailed explanations about thread material types, weight, terminology, and guidance on thread refection.

Feb 13th - “Fiber into Art: My Art Quilting Journey” with Heidi Zielinski, Stevensville, MT
An overview of how I got started in art quilting, what I have done along the way, and what I am doing now. Since I started this journey about 20 years ago I have been in juried shows, galleries, magazines and even TV. My work has changed over time and I have explored new techniques and developed my unique style. I will share my passion for art quilting and some of the art I am inspired to create.

March 13th - “Trunk Show and Lecture” with Vicki McCarty, Calico Patch Designs, Morehead, Kentucky
Vicki showcases many of her beautiful quilts and discusses her inspiration for creating as well as basic technique used in the quilt.  Hear stories behind the quilts as well as touching stories of Vicki's 40+ years quilting and tips passed on through 4 generations of quilting.  Hosted through Zoom.

 

April 10th - “Quilting Outside the Box-Because We Can” with Alice Ridge, Alice Ridge Quilts, Bloomington, Indiana  

Everyone starts with the quilting basics. Let’s step away from traditional quilting and explore many ways that you can change designs, limited only by your imagination. This presentation shows how we can take traditional designs and skew, twist or otherwise rebuild them into something more creative and fun.  Shows many ways that you can change designs, limited only by your imagination. 

May 14th - “Quilt Skills Round Robin” 
Envision a room with 10 tables—each one offering a quilting topic that will catapult your imagination and quilting skill set to the next level. Now, combine that with the pace of speed dating and you have the Quilt Skills Round Robin! Ten talented Village Quilters will share tried-and-true techniques or skills in 20-minute mini presentations.

You’ll have time to visit three of the 10 talks. Bonus: the handout from each of the 10 presentations will be available to all Guild members after the meeting. The Quilt Skills Round Robin is a fun-fun win-win!  

June 12th - There will be a luncheon following the business meeting.
