Fort Loudoun Dam/Lock Tour II

You’ve seen the dam from the bridge on 321, now you can see the locks up close. Join us on a walking tour on the deck of the Ft. Loudoun Lock!
Construction of Fort Loudoun Dam began in 1940 and was completed in 1943. The dam is 122 feet high and stretches 4,190 feet across the Tennessee River. The 60 by 360 foot lock at Fort Loudoun raises and lowers river craft about 70 feet between Fort Loudoun Reservoir and Watts Bar Reservoir. Barges passing through the Fort Loudoun lock carry about half a million tons of cargo a year.
The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.
Each participant must complete a Corps of Engineers General Tour Request Form. This form MUST be sent to Tony Grenis by September 3 or you will not be able to join the tour. The form is attached. You can email or mail the forms (address below). Complete only the highlighted lines.
