MUDDY POND SORGHUM MILL & LUNCH

Deep in the hills of TN midway between Nashville and Knoxville lies a little Mennonite community called Muddy Pond.  During September and October,  you can smell the aroma of fresh sorghum syrup made by the Guenther family.  Watch step by step as sorghum is being made.  You can taste the syrup while it is still warm.  You can watch the horses walk around the cane mill as the juice is being squeezed out of the sorghum cane.  

      
The General Store is a Mennonite grocery store with arts and crafts such as quilts, rocking chairs, baskets, and various sewn items on the second floor.  The Leather Shop has outstanding quality and craftsmanship - all at a good price.  The Country Porch is their restaurant - has lunch, baked goods, crafts and rocking chairs all under one roof. 

PLEASE NOTE:  We will leave Tellico Village via carpooling at 10:15am and arrive at the Country Porch for lunch around 11:00. (CENTRAL TIME)  After lunch, We will spend the afternoon touring the Sorghum Mill, the General Store and the Leather Shop.  There is a bakery we can also visit for good home baked pastries.  Since we will be car pooling the time we arrive back in Tellico is up to the driver.
